Earlier this morning I had a conference call which included Neil Levine, co-founder and designer of XOAB Socks, a North Carolina based company that is revolutionizing socks, especially for men. Neil had designed an exciting collection of socks that are fun, funky, silly, bright and appropriate for both men and women.
The best thing about these socks is that the textile technology nerd in me was really excited to hear about the customized knitting machine equipment that eliminates floats! Floats are the often times annoying strands of yarn that tickle your feet or get caught on your finger nails. This is a seriously exciting and remarkable advancement in sock technology, seriously.
Additionally, Neil and Rick spent about a year overcoming various challenges and have successfully established a stellar Made in USA supply chain. They've put together a great map that shows you where they sources their material, where the material is spun, dyed and finally where they knit the final products.
Here's a great video that tells their Made in USA story:
XOAB Socks is currently going through its first round of fundraising and they're inviting you to be part of making this possibility a reality!
Your pledges mean everything to us -- we can't do this without you! But we'd like to invite you to participate beyond pledging. Because we have a lot of control over sourcing and manufacturing, we don’t have to limit ourselves to one sock variation, or to a small number of designs and colors. Instead of guessing what kind of socks to make, we're asking you, our customer, what you want. - Neil & Rick Levine
Join their efforts in making THE MOST COMFORTABLE SOCK YOUR FEET HAVE EVER WORN by visiting their Kickstarter page or following them on Twitter. Now that fall is really here, I can't wait to get my first pair of XOAB socks and show them off around town!
