One of the great things about putting together a fashion show is meeting all the talented, artistic people that are a part of our community. Shereese Cromartie is a New Jersey native currently living in Elizabethtown who never pictured herself living in a small town in the south - the plan was to come to North Carolina and stay for a year... four years later she's still here and finding big ways to express her talents in the Triangle and beyond! From New York Fashion Week to the upcoming RAWartists Semi-Finals, Shereese has had a busy year!
Q. We see you have a profile on the RAWartists site, tell me about your experience and projects with RAW!
A. My first time ever working with RAW was in Dec, 2012 as an assistance to a hair stylist in the show. After that experience, I continued to follow the show dates and stay up with the upcoming shows, so I decided to take a chance and showcase my work in the July 2013 Kaleidoscope Show. I'm so grateful I did, it was amazing! Participating in RAW gave me a chance to display my talents to various areas and people, I networked with other artists and business owners, and now we've established business relationships. RAW has also opened new doors in my life, I'm actually one of the "TOP 3 Nominees" for the upcoming RAWards Semi Finals, that will be voted on December 5, 2013! I'M ECSTATIC!
Q. What other fashion shows, events, or projects are you currently working on or recently involved in?
A. In addition to being a freelance hair stylist available for photo shoots, wedding parties, film, etc., I was involved with
- NYFW (New York Fashion Week) Feb 2013
- Redress Eco Fashion & Textiles Conference Spring Fashion Show, 2013
I am also an operating PLATFORM ARTIST & EDUCATOR OF:
- Bronner Brothers Hair Show, ATL
- Premiere Hair Show, Orlando, FL and Birmingham, AL
- Extension Expo, Newark, NJ
- Weave XPert Intl. Team - we travel to numerous states training others in advanced weaving techniques, wig making techniques, and hair replacement methods.
Q.3. What inspires you?
A. My inspirations are awakened by education! When I learn new techniques, that motivates me and stirs up emotions within me to go out and present it to others, and put my own special twist on it!
Q4. What is your favorite kind of project to work on?
A. My favorite projects would be fashion and hair shows (so far). The shows release a whole different vibe. I love everything my talents have lead me to do, but there is something special about the excitement from the fast paced environment and the behind the scenes prepping that's needed to make sure that when those models walk the runway, my name speaks volumes!
