Manufacture New York, the country’s premiere fashion design and production incubator, has launched an unprecedented fundraising campaign on popular crowdfunding site Indiegogo. With 3 weeks left in the campaign, over 65 people have pledged their support, and their donations have reached nearly 30% of their $100,000 goal.
“Our goal is to set a new standard for innovation & transparency in the NYC fashion industry, so it makes sense to use the new technology of crowdfunding to spread the word about Manufacture New York. Each dollar is a vote for sustainable, local production and for the next generation of US apparel designers. We are so grateful for all of our supporters- their early confidence will be the foundation for our future success. ” -Bob Bland, Founder & Director of Manufacture New York
Manufacture New York will use the funds they’ve raised to build an inclusive fashion incubator & vertically integrated production facility in Industry City, Brooklyn. Funds from the campaign will go directly to space acquisition, equipment and adding jobs to the local economy.
For a monthly membership fee of $250, fashion designers will be given a complete suite of resources used to manufacture their own collections. Some of these resources include industrial sewing machines, a state-of-the-art computer lab, private studios, and classes taught by industry veterans.
Designers who purchase their first month on Indiegogo get the second month free, and space is already beginning to fill up.
Other incentives on the Manufacture New York Indiegogo campaign page include a custom tailored dress or suit, the donor’s name immortalized on a salvaged wood plaque, and tickets to a once in a lifetime wrap party at our Industry City facility, where patrons will be treated to a locally-sourced open bar, live music by Brooklyn electro-pop duo No Way Josie, photobooth by Bibi Booth and more!
Manufacture New York’s fundraising campaign ends March 31st.
