Last week we posted a story titled "Do you know where to buy sustainable fashion?" which has inspired us to bring you a series highlighting sustainable and eco-friendly designers we recommend you keep on your radar! This week we're highlighting our long-time friend and eco-friendly fabrics human encyclopedia, Oami Powers of Judah Ross.
Designer Oami Powers is the mastermind behind the limited edition sustainable womenswear label, Judah Ross, named after her parents Judith and Ross. Powers designs her down to earth collection from plant fibers, including: organic cotton, hemp blends, linen, and lyocel. We're taking a minute here to let you know that Powers is full of knowledge about eco-friendly textiles and will be leading an "Intro to Eco-Friendly Textiles" on March 23rd as part of the Redress Eco-Fashion & Textiles Conference.
When we were first introduced to Judah Ross, we fell head over heels with the brand's modern take on bohemian sense of style. Judah Ross pulls together intriguing prints, colors, and silhouettes to create a casual, relaxed and refined collections of pieces with which you can mix and match multiple outfits. Next we were mesmerized by Powers' low-impact dyeing techniques and results -- particularly remembering deep golds and purples in her Fall 2012 collection she featured in the 2012 Redress Eco-Fashion Show. Here are a couple of pictures from the runway:
What you can expect from every Judah Ross garment is beautiful fit, comfort and function. This limited edition sustainable womenswear brand is perfect for busy women looking to incorporate modern bohemian pieces into their professional work attire wardrobe. Powers' down to earth attitude and explorative spirit add influences drawn from menswear and sportswear details -- providing comfort, fit, and function to our inner most tomboy! You can shop the current Judah Ross collection via the online store.
