Current trends in men's style have dapper dudes everywhere boldly mixing colors and patterns to create an overall eccentric yet put-together aesthetic. Although this layered look seems expensive, with simple tricks and a little thrift/consignment shopping, any guy can pull off this amazing trend.

Guys, if you would like to get into this trend, it's simple and easy; just follow these two do's and don't's:
1) Do mix cool traditional prints, but use them in a contemporary way.
2) Don't worry about matching; your colors and prints shouldn't necessarily match but should go together.
Most of your best pieces for this look will already be in your closet; subtle or basic prints and some bright colors provide the best basis for your ensemble. Next, for a real pop of style, look for bolder prints at your local consignment/thrift/vintage shop. Fellow designer Ford Bowden and I went shopping last week and he found this Givenchy tie, retail ~$200, for only $6 at Uptown Cheapskate in Mission Valley! It's the perfect contemporary yet traditional print, and the colors easily fit with any bold pop of color:
