It’s an understatement to say that a lot goes on behind the scenes at our fashion shows. We want to take a moment to thank each and every salon owner, stylist, and makeup artist who has worked with our designers to complete the vision of a collection and bring its story to life. Today we’re peeking behind the scenes and getting to know this year’s magic-makers, starting with meet Aura Salon & Boutique located in Durham, North Carolina.
Aura Salon & Boutique is a woman-owned business that has been welcoming men and women to their Durham location for since they opened in 2012. Salon owner Gia Peebles is a master stylist and savvy entrepreneur with over a decade of experience. Gia graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, and her education landed her a position with a prominent law firm. She quickly realized that her passion was for personal beauty and being an entrepreneur.

Peebles graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, landing a position with a prominent law firm. However, she quickly realized her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for providing personal style services. Growing up in California, Peebles was exposed to diverse cultures and their personal beauty traditions and norms. During this time she became familiar with the variety of hair textures, styling techniques, and coloring needs. “I intertwine my experiences, creativity and affinity to care for other peoples’ hair and unleash the inner beauty of each individual who visits my salon,” says Peebles.
Within the last decade, Peebles worked with renowned leaders within the cosmetology industry, having served as a technical assistant for Belinda Baker, technician for McBride Research Laboratory, Inc., and recently styled Shane Ingram, chef and co-owner of Four Square Restaurant. Her regular celebrity clients including recording artist Yolanda Rabun, Sunshine Anderson, Jazz Vocalist Adia Ledbetter, and actress Yolanda Williams.

Jessica Isaac, Hair Stylist
Jessica takes pride in providing her clients with total relaxation, her undivided attention, and respect, which result in a rewarding experience. Along with her incredible talent to transform hair and truly bring out the “wow” factor of her client’s duos, Jessica educates her clients and offers tips on maintaining healthy hair and recreating salon-styles. She also continues to discover new techniques and advancements within the industry by regularly continuing her education. To top off her skill set and customer service, Jessica is a role-model and mentor for the youth, guiding them to make positive life decisions by providing encouragement and boosting their self-esteem.
LaQuisha “Q” Leemow, Make-up Artist
Over the last two years, Q has established her professional goals and objectives to serve as a makeup artist for special events and celebrity clientele. From the moment Q picked up her first tube of mascara she knew her love was to transform others through makeup art. While Q lets her clients talk about their ultimate makeup goal, she admits that at time she will gently push you outside of your comfort zone to give you a fresh look. Whether you’re going for a subtle and professional day look or you’re getting glammed up for a special occasion, when you spend time in Q’s chair it’s lights… camera… action!
Vickie Parker – Hair Stylist
With over 14 years of cosmetology experience, Vickie shares her passion for the industry with each of her clients as she cares for their hair, making sure they are satisfied when they leave her chair. Vickie is a quiet storm; she listens and assesses her clients’ needs and desires, then adds her personal flair to create an amazing look for each individual. To ensure that she stays abreast on the latest trends in the industry, Parker commits to at least two continuing education classes each year. Her creativity ranges from precision cuts, to weave extensions, to long and short hair and as she sums it up “Healthy Hair”.
