Youth Digital Adds Fashion Design 1 To Collection of Creative Tech Classes
Chapel Hill, NC -- Online educators Youth Digital have added Fashion Design to their library of creative technology courses for aspiring designers ages 8-14. In the new Fashion Design 1 course, students will learn design skills and principles while expressing themselves through fashion and style.
As part of Youth Digital’s commitment to giving students the tools and skills they need to go from consumer to creator, young fashion designers will learn principles of color and design, while using professional level digital illustration software to develop a unique six-look collection.
Students start with inspiring images, related to favorite places or interests, and develop a themed moodboard. This moodboard defines the theme of their collections, as they learn about seasonal clothes, silhouette, ready-to-wear, high fashion, and designing a customer profile. Students’ first designs begin with editable templates from the Fashion Design 1 garment library, then they’ll customize, style, edit, these templates to create personalized looks. Later on, looks will move away from any pre-defined templates or art, and by the end of the course, students will develop fashion from inspiration to finished look — from scratch.
Like all Youth Digital courses, Fashion Design 1 uses Youth Digital’s proven teaching method of interactive, project-based learning. At the end of the course, students have their own fashion portfolio, including custom patterns and six unique looks.
