Spring 2015 Fashion Blogging Internship with Redress

Are you a current student who loves to write about the fashion industry? Redress is looking for a fashion blogger intern to join our team during the spring 2015 semester! 

Position Summary: Redress connects and champions eco-conscious designers and companies through event planning, marketing, and an active membership program. The Fashion Blog Intern will be instrumental in increasing the content on our website and on other websites. Must be a current college student receiving class credit for this internship; communications or marketing major preferred but not required.

Responsibilities: 
The Fashion Blog Intern’s primary responsibilities are to write exciting content highlighting Redress Members, featured designers, speakers, and sponsors of REFTC, and newsworthy advancements in the fashion and textiles industry.  

Highlighting Redress Members 

  • Work closely with Strategic Director, Outreach Coordinator and Graphic Designer to create articles highlighting the work Redress Members are doing, such as:
  • New collection releases
  • Store openings
  • Participation in markets and fashion shows
  • Anything else Members would like to share with our audience
  • Edit and post content received from Redress Members

Featured Designers, Speakers, Sponsors of REFTC 

  • REFTC (Redress Eco-fashion and Textiles Conference) is a leading industry  event that brings together many different facets of the fashion and textiles industry to discuss sustainable advancements. Content created may include:
  • Individual profiles on each of the 2015 Spring Fashion Show Designers
  • Work with Redress team to create a list of questions you’ll ask each designer
  • Source photos for the blog post from the designers 
  • Blog posts about REFTC speakers and their sessions / presentations 
  • Work closely with Strategic Director to source contact information / information about each of the sessions
  • Blog posts highlighting the work of REFTC Sponsors

Newsworthy Advancements in the Fashion and Textiles Industry

  • Conduct research for blog posts - including reading other blogs, interviews, news articles, magazine articles, etc. and asking questions on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn
  • Come up with engaging topics that shed light on what’s happening in the industry
  • Technological Advancements
  • New Materials (fabrics, dyes, etc)
  • Accelerators that Support Emerging Designers
  • Discussions of Made-in-US manufacturing
  • Detailed and well-researched articles on what’s working or not working in sustainable fashion 
  • Create SEO optimized content to increase readership of the blog
  • Work with Strategic Director to determine keywords for SEO 

Qualifications & Competencies: 

  • Must be a current college student receiving class credit for this internship; communications or marketing major preferred but not required
  • Passionate about Writing, Sustainable Lifestyle ideas, and Fashion 
  • Friendly and conversational; comfortable interviewing people over the phone 
  • Able to connect with others and forge strong relationships - especially with other bloggers who might want to feature our content
  • Committed to the mission of establishing a more sustainable fashion and textiles industry
  • Highly organized, analytical, IT-competent — able to quickly learn web platforms such as Squarespace to post blog entries
  • Able to perform several tasks concurrently with a high level of time management and organizational skills: keeping detailed records and meeting deadlines
  • Able to keep confidential information private; will be required to sign a Nondisclosure Agreement

Essential Functions / Working Conditions: 

  • Must be available 10 - 15 hours per week (work will be done remotely on your own schedule)
  • Attendance at weekly meetings, usually held at HQ Raleigh
  • Able to write a minimum of 1 blog post per week, sometimes up to 2 blog posts per week
  • Able to work under pressure, meeting deadlines and changing priorities
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to source information for content in a timely manner
