It's Fashion Revolution Week, with this Sunday marking the 3rd anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster. This is a time where we should all take a moment to ask 'Who Made My Clothes' and do I Give A Damn about the answer?
We often get the question at Redress: Where do you shop? Or - Who do you buy things from? It's always a good question and in honor of Fashion Revolution Week, our Executive Director Beth Stewart is sharing 3 of her #GiveADamn Outfits with you!
1: The kickass mod dress outfit
2: The comfy work-from-home outfit
3: The versatile, stylish work-to-play outfit
This vintage mod dress was a perfect purchase. Bought from Raleigh Vintage, it's warm and fits well and I always get so many compliments on it! I love the details of the buttons and the great brightly-patterned fabric. I can wear this with or without tights and still be comfortable and it is a good outfit for many different types of events. A fave!
I work from home but, contrary to popular belief, do try not to stay in pajamas all day! However, I like to be comfortable and warm while still being able to answer a knock at the door should I need to. Hence why I throw on my Patagonia yoga pants and Spiritex top. The top is a great version of a modern sweatshirt - not as shapeless and the fabric I like better than most sweatshirts. Spiritex is a pioneer in ecofashion and is based in Asheville, so I'm supporting eco and local, a win-win for me!
When I am out and about I like to wear something versatile - stylish but with layers in case wherever I am is too hot or too cold. And I love soft fabrics, they just make the day less stressful. In this case, one of my go-to outfits is my AG Jeans - they feel like an awesome pair of jeans but are dressy enough to go to a business event too. Made in the US, I picked these up at the wonderful Vert et Vogue shop in Durham. They are seriously one of the best purchases I've ever made, I wear them all the time.
Many times I pair these pants with my Nau top and vest. I love the design and color of this shirt - it is super flattering. And the vest I recently bought for that transitional weather, when I may need another small layer but a sweater is too much. I love the modern lines and slightly sporty look. Nau has become a new favorite as they are a growing company that is always trying to do better in terms of sustainability and giving back to the community but their designs seem very modern and cutting edge.
